A number of seasons ago the metallic trend jumped off the runway and into our hearts when silver boots inspired by memorable 80's looks made a comeback. This year the metallic trend has expanded from footwear to clothing and from silver to any heavy metal colourway that you fall in love with.

Metallic footwear is the perfect high shine addition to your wardrobe this summer, no matter what weather we're blessed with. If the clouds are rolling in then some metallic shoes will add a little sunshine to the day and if the sun's already shining imagine how gloriously your choice will stand out.

Some of our favourite and most loved brands have taken the metallic highway this season and that means that some of the most iconic bag shapes have been reinvented for the trend. A new bag is always a great investment and even better, the metallic trend reads easy to style for the long term. 

Shimmery fabrics were all over the S/S 23 runways—with many looks leaning into the mermaid core aesthetic which is dominating this season. The key is to style your glistening pieces with the right casual pieces to make them perfect for everyday wear. For example, opt for a shimmery gold sheer dress on top of your bikini for a poolside look that screams summer 2023. Or for a more subtle take on the trend accent your outfit with a pair of silver or gold shoes or handbag.

HOW TO WEAR METALLICS 

You may have noticed your Insta feed looking a little sparklier than usual this season. That’s because metallics and sequins are one of the biggest trends this season —and this season we’re seeing plenty of fresh, cool, and casual takes on the shimmery style—proving that a little sparkle can in fact be worn year round.

Tip 1: The #1 rule in how to wear metallics is that they are the ultimate neutral. They literally can be paired back with any color, and any other neutral (black, brown, khaki, white, gray). If you don’t know what color shoe or handbag to pair with your outfit, go metallic as it’s rarely ever wrong!

Tip 2: Mixing metals can be tricky, so opt for one metallic hue per outfit. This doesn’t mean you can’t wear silver and gold accessories together, or rose gold and yellow gold. It simply means that for most of my clients they prefer to have one metallic focal point per outfit. This can look like a pair of silver ballet flats, gold slip on sneakers, a bronze leather jacket, or a rose gold pleated skirt.

Tip 3: Metallic comes in all forms and levels of shine, so while I am ALL for experimentation and getting out of your comfort zone, do know that you can select your metallic item(s) based on your personal style. This may mean for a more traditional femme that you go for a stack of gold & silver chain link bracelets and bangles as your pop. Or for a more classic femme, perhaps you
